Developers compete for Vancouver-area project

Several developers are in competition, each hoping to be selected for the Parker's Landing project at the Port of Camas-Washougal.

The port issued a request for qualifications recently, and Terra Pacific Development, LLC.; Williams/Dame & Associates, Inc.; and RKM Development Corporation responded. The developer will be selected by port officials, with input from the Leland Consulting Group, and interviews will take place during this month.

David Ripp, the CEO of the port, said it's an exciting time for the community and for the port, and that choosing the right company for the project means working with someone who shares the community's vision of a vibrant destination.

Several waterfront projects are already in work, including finishing clearing and grading over 20 acres to make way for additional development. Later this month, Keystone Contracting will start on the Waterfront Park Natural Play Area, and this summer, a connecting trail will be built between Washougal's downtown and the waterfront. The beautiful setting will make the short drive from Vancouver worth the trip, and poster printing can be used to help visitors find the attractions.

The Natural Play Area was designed by GreenWorks, and will use natural materials, including a boulder from the Ice Age named “Erric the Erratic,” since it (he) is an erratic boulder. The term is given to rocks that are different from other rocks occurring naturally in the area.
