Cleaning up Vancouver starts March

An event that will make Vancouver more beautiful is now on the schedule.

The Vancouver Parks and Recreation Department has asked volunteers to join in cleaning up the beach at Wintler Park. The small park lies on the Columbia River, and is also fun for rail fans, as the tracks run right next to the facility. The cleanup is only the beginning, as the city is starting to get all the parks and beaches ready for warmer weather.

Organizers are reminding everyone that the event will take place with all the safety protocols for remaining safe from COVID-19 in place, as mandated by the state. This means there are only eight spots available for volunteers who would like to help. In addition, participants are required to register in advance, and are asked to bring their own snacks, water bottles, and masks. Hand sanitizer, litter Bags, and gloves will be provided. Once a person has registered, they will be sent a confirmation letter with complete details about the event, including the meeting place.

Participants should understand that in addition to requiring masks and social distancing, all COVID protocols are to be followed, including answering screening questions, and self-screening in advance of the event.

The Wintler Park cleanup is scheduled for March 3, 2021, from 9.00 am until 11.00 am. Flyer printing can be used to create handouts to be distributed to volunteers at the beginning of events like this.
