Art exhibit ahead in Vancouver

An upcoming exhibit will give art enthusiasts a chance to enjoy beautiful works.

The Southwest Washington Watercolor Society (SWWS) recently announced its upcoming Fall Exhibit, which will be held at the historic Marshall House, located on Officers Row near Fort Vancouver.

Over 90 artworks, both water-media and watercolor, created by SWWS associate and juried members, will be on display and are for sale. To participate in a juried exhibition, potential participants must apply to the organizers by tomorrow, August 31. The organizers will then select those who can take part, based on how well their work aligns with the goals of the exhibition.

Harold Walkup will select the prize-winning artworks. Walkup is an internationally recognized artist and a member of the Watercolor Society of Oregon, the Northwest Watercolor Society, the Western Federation of Watercolor Societies, and the National Watercolor Society. His works hang in private and public collections in the United States and abroad, including South America, Spain, and Russia.

The works will be displayed from 11:00 am until 4:00 pm on September 17 and September 18. Prizes will be presented by Tao Zhou, the Awards Chair, on September 18 at 3:00 pm at the Marshall House. Artists will demonstrate their skills on both days on the Marshall House lawn.

There is no charge to attend the event, but masks are required. Organizers of shows of this type could work with brochure printing companies to create Catalogs of the items displayed.
