Spokane Valley seeks residents input on open space

Spokane Valley is working on its plan for open space, and wants to hear what locals think about the effort.

The Spokane Valley Parks and Recreation Department has created its Open Space Plan, and wants residents to let the city know what their priorities are with regard to new park elements, and new parts in general. Mike Stone, who is the Parks and Recreation director, says citizens have the opportunity now to share their thoughts.

The Open Space Plan describes Spokane Valley’s need for services, programs, facilities, and parks in general. It also provides guidance for ways to meet those needs by improving existing parks, as well as creating new sports fields, parks, and swimming facilities. Poster printing can be used to create illustrations of projects like this for closer examination.

At the workshop, residents will be able to share how they currently use the facilities and parks, and what additions or changes they would like to have made to these spaces in future. The update will be used by the city to help it develop and refine its policies and goals with regard to the parks system, as well as bringing the effort into agreement with the city’s comprehensive plan.

The open space workshop is scheduled to take place from 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm tomorrow, June 20, at the CenterPlace Regional Event Center on North Discovery Place.
