Two bands – one well-known and the other on the rise – are coming together in Spokane Valley in a few weeks.
One of the biggest blues bands in the Pacific Northwest, Too Slim & the Taildraggers, will perform in Spokane Valley, accompanied by up-and-coming star Jacob VanKnowe. The show will be at Mike’s Bar & Grill, which means drinks, food, pool, darts, and pull tabs are also part of the evening.
Too Slim & the Taildraggers formed in Spokane in 1986 and is currently based in Nashville. A blues rock group, they have put six albums in the Top 10 spots of the Billboard Top Blues albums. The group was named “Best Blues Band” for four consecutive years (1995-1998) by the Inland Empire Blues Society. The Society also named two of their albums – “Blues for EB,” and “Swamp Opera” – as “Best Albums.”
Jacob VanKnowe is from Spokane and is a rising star in metal music, particularly the subgenre of alternative metal. His music showcases the aggressive, heavy approach that characterizes the genre. In addition, he is known for his talent as a guitarist, including his elaborate solos.
The performance is scheduled for Saturday, July 18, and Mike’s Bar & Grill is at 21 South Dishman Road in Spokane Valley. Events like this often benefit when organizers use flyer printing to create publicity handouts, making for an economical way to announce the evening in the local area.
