Spokane Valley celebrates all December long
The City of Spokane Valley will be the place to be in December with events happening throughout the month.
The fun begins with the Celebration of Lights Tree Lighting. Santa Claus will be on hand, along with his live reindeer, presumably off duty for the night. The Jolly Old Elf will spend time at the library where he will tell stories and people can take photos with him.
Young people will play a big part in the event. Spokane Valley Tech students will give a demonstration of lights and robotics, and the University High School band and Opportunity Elementary School choir will provide musical entertainment.
Another highlight is the walking light parade. Everyone is asked to wear light-up clothing and join in following Santa Claus and the University High School Drumline as they move through the park.
Giving back is also part of the evening. People are asked to bring a new book on any subject to donate, with the volumes going to local schools free of charge. Organizers would also be grateful if people would bring non-perishable food times which the elves will collect for donation.
Other events during the month include Breakfast with Santa, a winter market, and letters from Santa.
The tree lighting is scheduled for December 5, from 5.30 pm until 7.30 pm, at Balfour Park. Using banner printing, organizers of events like this can create festive decorations that are suitable for use in all weather.
