What's Happening in Spokane Valley, WA…

Cycling event welcomed back to Spokane Valley

A cycling event that began in 2013 is back.

Valleyfest is presenting the annual Cycle Celebration, a bicycle ride through the beautiful Spokane Valley. Riders have their choice of the distance they want to attempt, either 10, 25, or 50 miles. The 10-mile course is suitable for cyclists with less experience and families, as it leads along the Spokane River.

The 50-mile ride is the “Hills Around the Valley” course, which goes north as far as Mead, and includes some hilly terrain. The 25-mile ride is called the “Adventure Ride,” and heads mostly to the south of Spokane Valley.

The 50-Mile ride begins at 8.00 am, the 25-Mile ride at 9.00 am, and the 10-Mile ride at 9.30 am. To participate, riders must wear an approved helmet, sign a waiver, and those under 17 must have an adult companion.

Patrols will watch all the routes, and remain in touch with Mirabeau Park, where medical assistance will be available. Bike Hub will provide mechanical support, and Spokane County SCOPE will control traffic. Water, food, and a portable toilet will be available at each comfort station. Courses are clearly marked, which organizers can arrange by using banner printing to create course markers

All the routes begin and end at CenterPlace/Mirabeau Point Park. Basic fees are $29.00 for adults and $15.00 for young people, but there is no fee for riders 12 and younger. Registrations might include lunch and a t-shirt. The Cycle Celebration is on July 27.
