A workshop is coming up soon that will help attendees learn about succulents and how to create gardens using these plants.
Planted Plant Company is the host of the Succulent Garden Workshop, where attendees will learn how to design succulent gardens. Low bowls, soil, and four succulents will be provided. Succulents are drought resistant plants that come in many shapes, textures, and colors. They are able to withstand harsh environments because they store water in their fleshy stems and leaves. These qualities make succulents ideal for creating easy-to-maintain, miniature gardens.
Many people probably think of cacti when they think of succulents, but the two are not the same. While all cacti are considered to be succulents, not all succulents are cacti. Some of the succulents that are not cacti are aloe vera, agave, various types of stonecrop, and moss rose.
Cacti include the saguaro cactus and the prickly pear, and are familiar to many people because they have come to be a symbol of the West, thanks to their use in Western films, where they are an emblem of the arid desert landscape.
All the materials necessary to create a small succulent garden will be provided, along with beverages and snacks. Attendees at events like this often benefit from having instruction sheets, which organizers can create using flyer printing.
The Succulent Garden Workshop is scheduled for July 2, from 5:30 pm until 6:30 pm, at Planted Plant Company on East Sprague Avenue in Spokane Valley.
