Jazzing it up near Spokane Valley

A smooth jazz, funk, and R&B musician and multi-instrumentalist will be performing near Spokane Valley this summer.

Illinois native Brian Culbertson has been involved with music since he was a youngster, learning piano at the age of eight; drumming at age nine; picking up the trombone when he was ten; the bass when he was in seventh grade; and then the euphonium—a brass instrument that resembles a tuba—in high school. Perhaps not surprisingly, his father was a music teacher who listened to artists such as Earth, Wind and Fire; Chicago; and Sting.

Culbertson has released 18 studio albums, starting with “Long Night Out” in 1994. Of these, three have made it to the top of the U.S. Jazz chart, and nine got to number on the U.S. Contemporary Jazz chart. Three of these efforts, “Dreams,” “Another Long Night Out,” and “Colors of Love,” topped both charts. He has also released three live albums.

A concert review says:

“Brian Culbertson was fantastic. By far he is the best jazz entertainer in the business. I most definitely will go and see him again, again and again.”

Culbertson will appear at the Bing Crosby Theater in Spokane, a quick trip from Spokane Valley, on June 7. Poster printing can provide attractive advertising for events like this.
