Land spanning 2.5 acres on the Cedar River has been purchased by the city if Renton to be transformed into a public park. This property fronts 1,500 feet along the scenic Cedar River and fulfills a vision of the city to expand the Cedar River Park.
Armondo Pavone, mayor of Renton, said that this was a unique and rare opportunity for the city and its purchase will benefit the community for many years to come. He added that it will facilitate lasting restoration of the shoreline, enhance public access to the riverfront, and support the growth of recovery efforts of the salmon in the Cedar River.
Flyer printing can be used to disseminate news about such acquisitions and their benefits for a community.
Administrator of the Parks and Recreation Department, Maryjane Van Cleave, said that this property has been a priority for both the department and the community for many years. Van Cleave expressed her excitement about beginning the planning for this property along with residents and creating a park that complements the community center, the pool, and adjacent spaces in the park.
The Parks and Recreation Department will now focus on a master planning process to refine its design of the park and evaluate its amenities. The work will be guided by input from the community to create a park that will restore natural habitat, enhance recreation, and strengthen connections to Cedar River.
