Renovated playground in Renton now open

Highlands Park in Renton has unveiled its newly updated playground.

The playground has updated play equipment featuring a larger playground with new play structures for children of all ages and new furnishings on the site with benches so parents can watch their children play. There is also a new picnic table. Local Print shops can help to provide more details on the new features and updates to such parks with Booklets, Flyers, Brochures, and other printed materials.

A community engagement process that included outreach at the Highlands Neighborhood Center and online feedback helped to shape the design of the playground. An effort was made to hear directly from the young people who use the playground on a regular basis. The Renton Youth Council and the afterschool recreation program of the STREAM Team offered their energy, creativity, and thoughtful ideas through the design process.

The city of Renton has also expressed their gratitude to the playground vendor for the project, Northwest Playground, and thanked the Highlands community for their feedback, input, and patience while the project was under construction.

The community at large expressed their desire to upgrade this playground to make safety improvements and add modern play spaces that expand opportunities for all children.

Later this year, pathways will be added to Highlands Park to improve accessibility to the park, allowing Americans with Disabilities Act access to the ballfields and all sports courts.
