Olympia workshop to explore the fundamentals of soil health

Knowing what soil type is in a garden can often prove to be very important to the home vegetable grower, and an Olympia event will teach those who take part how to make the most from their own veggie patch.

The ‘Soil Health for Vegetable Farming’ will explore the topic of creating garden soil that can be very productive. A variety of amendments and cultural practices that can lead to higher yields will be discussed, as will tips for determining the composition and nutritive value of the soil in a particular a planting bed for the plants that will be grown in it.

The three-hour session will be taking place at 928 Wilson Street NE, and it has been organized by Urban Futures Farm. All home gardeners in the local area are welcome to take advantage of this learning opportunity, and it is being offered free of charge. It has been planned to both increase the food supply sustainability of area households and also to raise awareness of the value of a simple garden patch.

This workshop is scheduled to begin at 11:00 am, and it will wind up at 2:00 pm. A printer’s graphic design department will be able to design and produce a variety of handouts for this sort of event.

August 4 has been selected to be the date for this session. Anyone who would like more information has been asked to contact the organizer through its online event listing.
