Literature lovers, as well as those who are just looking for a new crafting challenge, may enjoy participating in an Olympia workshop that will introduce the process of bookbinding.
Arbutus Folk School has organized an Intro to Bookbinding Class that will provide 12 hours of hands-on instruction. It will teach traditional methods, and tickets are $290 each.
Learners in the 12-hour long short course will discover how they can use case-binding methods, as well as sewing, to produce Booklets and signatures. They will be working with equipment that is easy to obtain, and the techniques can be followed at home. Everyone will make their own journal to keep or gift, and they will all walk away with their own kit of tools that are essential for bookbinding, which is included in the price of the session.
There are two sessions scheduled, and both run for six hours. No previous experience is needed.
