For many who call Olympia home, summer means a visit to a local farm that boasts fields of blooming sunflowers, and the public is welcome to pay a visit to the venue.
The annual Sunflower Festival will welcome one and all at Rutledge Family Farm, and it will be bursting with a wide variety of cultivars of these blooms. Admission starts at $8.00 for kids and $12.00 for adults, and this may be paid in advance or at the gate.
Ticketholders will be transported to the flower field in a wagon, and they can wander through the blooms for as long as they like. There will be lots of photo ops, and everyone will go home with at least one stem of sunflowers to keep. This year, they will also have their name entered in a raffle draw for a themed gift basket. To provide views of the sunflowers from above, a viewing platform has been constructed.
As the sunflower fields often attract a lot of professional photographers, the organizers have special photography sessions available for booking. Each is an hour long. Stationery printers can lend a hand with special activities like this by preparing signage, contracts, and a variety of marketing materials.
Rutledge Family Farm will be celebrating sunflower season from Sunday, August 16 until the end of August, open from Thursdays to Sundays.
