The area around Olympia is home to a variety of ecosystems, and an exploration of its native plants will welcome anyone who would like to participate.
The Native Plant Salvage Foundation has planned a full-day excursion that will visit Grays Harbor County, suitable for those age 10 and up. The hike will mostly be on level ground, and the participants will walk along slowly, observing the assorted flora as they go.
The participants in the day can expect to explore an assortment of ecosystems, such as a beach, a salt marsh, and dunes. Covid prevention measures, such mask wearing and social distancing, will be observed, and each attendee will be asked to sign a liability waiver. They will also need to bring their own lunch, snacks and water, and to help make sure everyone has what they need, supply lists, and itineraries will be sent out ahead of the event.
An in-the-field activity like this may appeal to amateur botanists and horticulturists alike. Any Letterheads or other business documents required to keep it organized can be ordered from area Print shops.
Native Plant Salvage has made arrangements to offer this day of ecological exploration on July 25. Anyone who has questions or would like to secure their spot in the activity has been asked to visit the organization’s website.
