Olympia event focuses on food preservation

Dehydration is one of the oldest methods for preserving food for future use, and it will be the focus of an upcoming Olympia workshop.

Those who register for the Food Dehydration class, which will be offered at Prosperity Grange, will explore how to use techniques for preserving the bounty of their summer garden or their local farmers’ market. There is no fee being charged to register.

The session will discuss how to get the best results when drying food, and storage of the final products so that their shelf life can be extended will also be reviewed. The attendees will learn about the various types of dehydrators on the market, and find which ones are best for their needs and budget. They will also find out which foods work well for drying at home. The workshop is scheduled to run for an hour and a half, and questions from the learners will be welcomed.

Attending an introductory class can make it easier for those who are interested in a topic to get started. Recipes, ingredient checklists, and other printed materials for an activity can be prepared by Print shops.

This opportunity to get the lowdown on dehydrating food is scheduled for Tuesday, May 6. It will start at 7:00 pm sharp, and a registration link is included in its Eventbrite listing.
