Medstreaming, a medical informatics company located in Redmond, a short distance from Kirkland, recently announced that it has received an investment from Sentara Healthcare, based in Norfolk, Virginia.
A nonprofit company, Sentara is an integrated system of 12 hospitals, a health plan, and medical services. The capital from Sentara will enable Medstreaming to grow its platform for clinical analytics and workflow solutions, and continue the development of its Clinical Data Management (CDM) echo system.
According to the president of Sentara’s Third Core investment group, Kenneth Krakaur, the company believes that the innovative CDM platform that Medstreaming has developed will help clinicians with structured clinical databases and standardized workflows.
The chief operating officer of Medstreaming, Michael Thompson, pointed out the importance of workflows to helping hospitals and physician offices become more efficient in organizing and reporting clinical data, which is then used by healthcare organizations and providers to show that their models of care are the most cost effective for their patients. The partnership with Sentara will help the company with its products related to data aggregation and workflow so as to address these needs, Thompson added.
As a result of the new partnership, the senior vice president and chief financial officer of Sentara, Robert Broermann, and Krakaur will join the Board of Directors of Medstreaming.
