Noted tribute band headed to Kirkland

A band celebrated as one of the best AC/DC tributes is coming to Kirkland.

Hell’s Belles are not only a fantastic band, they are noteworthy because the outfit is all female. While not as rare as they once were, women in rock are still unusual, and a heavy metal band comprised of all women is rarer still.

The members say that above all, they are fanatics dedicated to AC/DC, a trait they all share. Their devotion to the original group had led them to perform their concerts with passion and precision. They have been endorsed by Angus Young, the co-founder of AC/DC, and critics say watching a performance by Hell’s Belles is the closest people can get to seeing the original group.

Hell’s Belles was founded in Seattle in 2000, with original members Amy Stolzenbach on guitar, Om Johari handing vocals, guitarist Sylvia Weidemann, and drummer Laura Derig. The lineup has changed over time, and none of the original artists are still with the group, but the music has never stopped.

Hell’s Belles have toured the world include stops in Canada, Japan, Singapore, and most of the United States, including Alaska. They routinely sell out their shows, where fans will hear classics like “Dirty Deeds” and “Highway to Hell,” as well as other classics in a set list that changes.

Hell’s Belles will be at the Kirkland Performance Center on September 26. Shows like this are traditionally advertised with colorful Posters, which organizers will find at Print shops.
