Multi-platinum recording artist to come to Kirkland

An artist who has numerous Grammy nominations to her name, as well as a record of worldwide appearances, is coming to Kirland.

Joan Osborne is a native of Anchorage, Kentucky, who moved to New York City to study filmmaking, but wound up singing instead. Her interest began when she sang at an open mic night on a whim. She was a hit, and she started appearing weekly at other venues in the East Village, singing with groups like the Spin Doctors, the Blues Traveler, and others.

She released “Soul Show: Live at Delta 88,” her debut album, in 1991 on Womanly Hips, her own label. She built a following in the Northeast and was signed by Mercury Records. Her second album, “Relish,” dropped in 1995, a hit that featured “What if God Was One of Us,” a single. She directed the video of another cut from the album, “St. Theresa,” and created the album’s artwork herself.

For more than 25 years, Osborne has toured the United States and the world, performing both as a soloist and with her band. She has eight Grammy nominations to her credit, and has performed duets with stars like Patti Smith, Stevie Wonder, Luciano Pavarotti, and others. She has performed for The Dalai Lama; opened for The Who at Madison Square Garden; and enjoyed other milestones.

Joan Osborne will be at the Kirland Performance Center on October 10. Organizers often advertise events like this using Posters, which are available at local Print shops.
