An event is coming back to Kirkland just in time for the spooky season.

The City of Kirkland’s annual Costume Swap is returning, giving people a chance to find costumes that are new for them while they trade in those outfits they no longer need. Costumes can be expensive, and since they are only worn for special occasions, they can be an indulgence for many people.

The costume swap is a fun alternative to this practice. People who want to do so are encouraged to donate clean, gently used costumes, masks, hats, and other accessories for the swap. All sizes of costumes, from adult to infant, will be acceptable provided they are clean and can be worn; that is, they should not be musty or mildewed, have broken zippers, or have tears in them—unless the damage is intentional. Accessories should also be in good condition.

People can donate costumes from October 5 – 9 at either the Kirkland City Hall, located at 123 5th Avenue, or the North Kirkland Community Center, at 12421 103rd Avenue Northeast. The Costume Swap itself is scheduled for October 10, from 10.00 am until 12.00 pm, in the Peter Kirk Room in City Hall. People are encouraged to donate, but do not have to do so to select a costume, and volunteers are still needed to assist with the event. When they plan events like this, organizers can boost their engagement by using poster printing to create advertisements.
