A singing group that is officially more than 70 years old will perform in Kirkland.

The Krokodiloes are the oldest group at Harvard University that sings a capella, which means without any instrumental accompaniment. The ensemble comprises 12 current male undergraduates whose performances are outstanding, who perform in professional shows comprised mostly of jazz standards, with humor and energetic dance added in. In 2023, the “Kroks” performed 150 shows, including a 19-country, six-week tour.

The Kroks were founded in 1946, but their roots go all the way back to the Hasty Pudding Club, which was founded in 1770, and is seen as the oldest social organization at the college level in the U.S. The club treasured the traditions of verse, wine, and fellowship, which led four musically inclined members to apply those principles to music in 1946. The name of the group is Greek for crocodile, and was based on the stuffed crocodiles found in the Upstairs Bar of the Pudding Club.

The group performs music from the Great American Songbook and more traditional songs to audiences throughout the world. The Kroks have entertained stars like Leonard Bernstein, Julia Roberts, Yo-Yo Ma, Ella Fitzgerald, and have appeared on “Good Morning America,” National Public Radio, “The Tonight show with Johnny Carson,” and more.

The Kroks will be at the Kirkland Performance Center on January 12 at 7.30pm. When events like this are scheduled, organizers can use poster printing to create advertisements for them.
