Kirkland residents can run the Turkey Trot again this coming month. Like last year’s event, the run will be online, so participants can choose their routes.
The run is hosted by Hopelink, a non-profit organization looking to end poverty. The Turkey Trot run will support individuals and families in King County facing financial obstacles. Proceeds from the event will provide basic needs like food and shelter for homeless people within the community.
This year’s run is the event’s 20th anniversary and will feature a 5K challenge like in previous years. Since the event will be virtual, anyone from outside the area can also take part. Children looking to participate may sign up for a “Kids Dash.” Participants will have a chance to obtain a Turkey Trot shirt, the likes of which often display a graphic design made for the event. Supplies of shirts are limited, so entrants are encouraged to sign up early to receive one.
Runners can also pick up their packets before the race. Entrants from outside the area can have their packets delivered to them.
The Turkey Trot will take place starting November 15 and end by noon of November 21. Participants can run their course anytime during this timeframe. Awards will be given out according to age groups. Entry to the event is $30 for the 5K and $10 for the Kids Dash.
