Top comedian on the way to Kirkland

The Hollywood Reporter voted him one of New York City’s top 10 comedians, and now he’s coming to Kirkland.

The comedian who goes by the stage name Modi was born Mordechi Rosenfeld in Tel Aviv, Israel, and came to the U.S. with his family when he was seven. He is a graduate of Boston University, where he studied psychology with a minor in voice, and worked at Merrill Lynch as an international banker before turning his talents to comedy.

He got started in the field by performing at an open-mic night, and enjoyed it so much he realized he wanted to make comedy a full-time career. Modi prides himself on his ability to “read the room,” gauging his audiences with accuracy so that his humor lands as intended and appeals to people of all backgrounds and faiths.

On television, Modi has appeared on E! Entertainment, Comedy Central, ABC, NBC, CBS, and HBO, and has been given rave reviews by such sources as The New York Post. He now performs regularly at comedy clubs in Los Angeles and New York City, and tours throughout the globe.

He has also appeared in several feature films, and in 2018, won what may be the ultimate honor when Mayor Bill De Blasio of New York City declared June 26 to be “Mordechi Modi Rosenfeld Day.”
