An unusual event is on the schedule for Kirkland to help people celebrate St. Patrick's Day.
The Kirkland Shamrock Adventure Run will take participants and their entire families throughout Kirkland's downtown on a scavenger hunt, where they will be allowed one hour from the time they start to walk or run to as many listed locations as possible. The participating businesses will be shown on a map, and the idea is to visit as many as possible in the time allowed to collect tickets from them.
Those taking part will be able to choose the route they follow, but those businesses that are the furthest away are the ones that have the most tickets. When participants return to the starting point, they will pick up their swag, and turn in the tickets they have collected, which will be entered in a contest to win prizes.
Event organizers are taking special care to protect participants from the virus. They have many safeguards in place including the elimination of in-person registration; requiring face coverings; starting the race in small waves; and asking participants to bring their own food and water. There will be handwashing stations and sanitizer stations in place. Complete information is on the event website.
The Shamrock Adventure Run is set for March 13 at 9:00 am, at Marina Park. Banner printing can be used to create markers for the start and end of events like this.
