Seasonal fundraiser to be held for Kirkland dog park

The Howl-O-Wine event to raise money for Jasper’s Dog Park in Kirkland is coming up at near the end of this month.

This event is one of the most important ones set up to help KDOG, the Kirkland Dog Off-Leash Group, to maintain the park and provide dog areas within the city of Kirkland, allowing canines to run safely and without a leash.

On January 28, KDOG opened Jasper's Dog Park which is located on a two-acre piece of land bordered by a wetland property owned by the City near the Municipal Court. The park is maintained completely by volunteer citizens and local businesses and derives its income from fundraisers, individual donations, and business sponsorships. During its first year of operation, it is estimated that it served over 30,000 visitors. Recently, a new and safer entrance was opened to the public.

KDOG is most likely turning to several printing services to inform dog lovers and others in the community of the event and its support for a worthy cause.

The event will be held from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm on October 25 at Northwest Cellars in Kirkland. There will be refreshments for both dogs and humans, and entertainment by Marilyn and the G Strings, along with a costume contest with prizes. Attendees can purchase a bottle of wine with a KDOG label on it that supports the organization.
