Scrooge on his way to Kirkland

Perhaps the most famous miser in the world is on his way to Kirkland to appear in his namesake production.

‘Scrooge’, the musical version of Dickens’ classic ‘A Christmas Carol’, will be presented by the Kirkland Academy of Music and Performance (KAMP), though this year the show will be in a new venue – the Kirkland Performance Center.

The well-known story tells of Ebenezer Scrooge, a money-lender whose cruelty makes him a hated man. On Christmas Eve, three ghosts pay him a visit and show him that he has wasted his life. He reforms, reconciles with his estranged nephew, and learns to be a good employer and a generous friend.

The KAMP production offers 22 songs, 18 of which are original while the others are adapted Christmas carols, and is directed by Joshua Sibley. Sibley says the change of venue works well with the new show, which has very high production values. Sue Heale, who co-wrote the show with Lambros Lambrou and Sibley, and is also the production’s music director, found the process exciting. The year between the last production and this has given the team time to refine the show, which it plans to make available to other community theaters.

‘Scrooge’ will be performed tonight and tomorrow evening at 7:00 pm. Events like this can be enhanced if organizers work with poster printing companies, which can create eye-catching Posters to advertise the production.
