For three days, Kirkland residents will be able to have fun at this year's Oktoberfest celebration, which is scheduled for the Marina Park Pavilion, located in the city's downtown.
Of course, beer is an important part of the event, but there are many other activities on the schedule, including keg-rolling races, corn hole, stein-hoisting contests, and a human foosball game. There will be live music courtesy of a German oompah band. A costume contest is also on the schedule, so attendees are urged to wear lederhosen.
In the beer garden (‘Biergarten’ in German), attendees will find a Festhalle filled with communal tables, and traditional German beer being served in steins holding a half-liter or liter. A Sportshaus will be set up so people can watch football, and there will also be a Sausagehaus that will serve traditional German food.
Additionally, there will be food trucks available, along with craft brewers from throughout the Pacific Northwest. The Sunday of the festival has been designated ‘Dog Day’, and people are welcome to bring their dogs, and there will also be ‘Wiener Dog Races’ that day. Pets will not be admitted on Friday or Saturday.
Oktoberfest is September 22, 23, and 24. Friday hours are 5:00 – 11:00 pm, Saturday is 11:00 am – 11:00 pm, and Sunday is 11:00 am until 6:00 pm.
