Like its neighboring city of Woodinville, Kirkland is becoming known for its vineyards, and as a destination for people who love wines and wine tastings. In order to celebrate its increasing presence in the wine making industry, Kirkland holds several Wine Walks annually, and the summer event is coming up soon.
Seattle Uncorked, the Kirkland Downtown Association and the Kirkland Chamber of Commerce, are presenting the Kirkland Wine Walk in the city's downtown. The walk, which is limited to those over 21 years of age, starts from the Heathman Hotel, where participants will get their map showing the participating venues, and the wines they will be serving. They will also be give a complimentary glass to use for tastings, and 12 tickets. Those who would like to sample additional wines may buy more tickets during the event. In addition, each merchant participating in the Wine Walk will be offering specials on wine during the evening.
Organizers ask that only people with tickets go on the walk, since some of the venues are small. Attendees are also asked to leave pets and children at home.
The Kirkland Wine Walk is set for June 22. People who have Early Bird tickets may pick up their maps and glasses at 5:00 pm, while general admission attendees get a later start of 6:00 pm.
