Kirkland welcomes markets for the summer

Some consider Memorial Day the start of summer, but for many Kirkland residents, summer doesn’t begin until the Juanita Friday Market and the Kirkland Wednesday Market are up and running. Now that the markets are open, residents are ready to enjoy themselves.

The Juanita Friday Market has been running for ten years. This market offers products produced or grown in Washington State. Tina Lathia, who manages the event, said a number of vendors have decided to participate for the first time, particularly those who handle food. In addition, since the market is celebrating its tenth year, there will be new activities, including live music.

The Friday market has special events planned: on June 30, there’s a food truck rodeo; July 28 brings a health fair; August 25 is wellness day; and the last market is a harvest fair. This market is at Juanita Beach Park, from 3 pm until 9 pm every Friday through September 29, 2017.

The Wednesday market has about 80 vendors in total taking part, with an average of 70 vendors present on any given day. Like the Friday market, Wednesday’s event has attracted new participants.

The Wednesday market winds up its season on September 27. It runs every Wednesday from 2 pm until 7 pm in Marina Park.

Events like this can benefit if organizers work with a flyer printing company to create a handout for visitors, listing vendors and their locations.
