Kirkland to host talk on stage presence

An author and storyteller is coming to Kirkland to share information on how to keep the attention of an audience at a live event.

James Whittaker will be discussing “Storytelling and the Art of Stage Presence” at the Side Hustle in Kirkland.

The phrase “stage presence” may bring acting to mind, but being at ease in front of others also applies to those who have to give a presentation at a conference, address their colleagues in a meeting, or hold a training session. Whittaker argues that developing the talent of holding an audience is a vital skill for anyone building a career. Those who can explain complex ideas and fuel excitement among managers, colleagues, and customers are on a fast track to success. At the event, Whittaker will be demonstrating these principles, not lecturing. Organizers of events like this may want to use flyer printing to create a handout about the speaker.

Whittaker has worked in tech, start-ups, and academia, and is the author of numerous Books, two of which have been finalists for the Jolt Award, and one of which made it to the best-seller lists.

The presentation is scheduled for Thursday, February 6, from 5.00 pm until 8.00 pm, at the Side Hustle Taproom, located at 15 Lake Street in Kirkland. The evening includes a buffet dinner, and attendees will receive a copy of his book. The evening is limited to those 21 years of age and older.
