Kirkland sets event to honor those making a difference

Kirkland is inviting everyone to celebrate those who made a difference to the city in 2019.

City officials have put the City of Kirkland Community Engagement Appreciation Night on the calendar, and are inviting everyone, plus one guest, to the event. It is going ahead as of the time of writing, but check with the organizers nearer the time, as with all events right now.

Honorees include neighborhood leaders, members of city commissions and city boards, and volunteers, all of whom have given their talent and time to Kirkland during the past year.

The evening features two separate activities. To start, the Peter Kirk Community Center will be the venue for a social hour. Although there will be some seating available, the format is that of a “mixer,” with most people standing and mingling. There will be live music provided by a jazz band, as well as a buffet with beverages and food.

The second part of the evening is the celebration of the honorees, which will be held at the Kirkland Performance Center, from 6:15 pm until 7:30 pm. At this time, special awards will be presented by members of the City Council, and senior staff members, to the people who have worked to improve life in Kirkland. A musical program is also planned, highlighting the various ways volunteers work for the betterment of the city.

The event is scheduled for April 16, and prospective attendees are asked to RSVP for themselves and their guest by this Friday, March 27. Banner printing can provide colorful decorations for this type of event.
