Kirkland pawses for the holidays

Kirkland residents will have a chance soon to support a great cause.

Paws for a Cause will kick off its fundraising effort soon, with a “Pawty.” The organization raises funds on behalf of the American Cancer Society (ACS), and has branches in many different cities.

The local organization is Paws for a Cause - Kirkland, which encourages people to become volunteers. Once they do, they become part of the American Cancer Society. Volunteers give their time and energy to help raise both awareness of the disease, and money for research. The local volunteers represent the organization in the community.

All of the locations host “doggy festivals” at various times throughout the year. People bring their dogs and get together with other dog lovers at a “pawty” that is also a fundraiser. All of the money raised at the “doggy festivals” goes directly to the ACS. Activities typically include a 5K fun walk, costume contest, dog show, vendors, and more, and there are a number of Pawties throughout the year. In Kirkland, silent auction baskets are promised, as is food. There are still spots available for sponsors and vendors to join the event.

The fundraiser is scheduled for January 11, from 11.00 am until 1.00 pm, at the Courtyard by Marriott-Seattle Kirkland, on 124th Street. Banner printing can be used to help create decorations for special events this this.
