The Kingsgate Library in Kirkland recently re-opened with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The building dating from the 1970s has been transformed now can better meet the needs of the community as a gathering space for the 21st century. There is a stronger connection of a visual nature to its wooded setting so that more light can enter the library and the community room. The energy, seismic, HVAC and technological systems have been updated as well
Director of the library, Gary Wasdin, is encouraging everyone to come to the library and see the many changes.
After the ribbon-cutting ceremony, there were tours of the library so people could see the space that has been renovated and enjoy refreshments that the Friends of Kingsgate Library provided. There was also a musical extravaganza for families and their children featuring The Marianna Group. The King County E-911 Program Office offered a 911 Story Time, which is an educational and fun program offered at no charge that is designed to teach pre-schoolers about dialling 911. Also part of the program that was offered was learning a 911 song, Emery the Emergency Penguin's story and Emery and the Ice Carnival. Children received an Emory coloring book as part of the program.
