The Kirkland Performance Center will be host once again to the annual Best of the Blues Awards by the Washington Blues Society, as it honors artists and musicians in 31 categories.
The Stacy Jones Band is leading the field of nominees with a total of nine nominations, and is followed by guitarist and singer Kevin Andrew Sutton, and Ben Hunter and Joe Seamons, who were winners of the 2016 International Blues Challenge. Former president of the Washington Blues Society Eric Steiner, peripatetic drummer and blues writer Rick J Bowen, and guitarist Rod Cook each received three or more nominations.
According to Current President of the Washington Blues Society and member of the Board of Directors of the Blues Foundation in Memphis, Tony Frederickson, there are many artists that have received their first nomination this year. The ballot for this year is diverse, Frederickson added, and demonstrates there is a wide of range of blues talent in the state of Washington.
Afterwards, there will be a party Hector's in downtown Kirkland, featuring several of the nominees.
The Washington Blues Society is a nonprofit group dedicated to preserving, promoting, and advancing blues music culture in Washington State. Poster printing would be one way the Society could get the word out about the Awards and the many performers who are nominated.
The Best of the Blues Awards will take place this Sunday, April 3rd.
