Auto show revs up in Kirkland

An event unique to Kirkland is on the schedule.

The Kirkland Downtown Association – a non-profit organization dedicated to maintaining the best interests of people who play, work in, or come to visit Kirkland – will present the Kirkland Waterfront Auto Show.

Now in its 18th year, this event is considered one of the region’s best auto shows, with more than 30 vendors taking part, and hundreds of cars on exhibit. Visitors will be able to spend time browsing the cars, enjoying good food, and talking to car restorers and owners. Events like this are a great place for people to exchange Business Cards.

The show is also unusual in that the cars are displayed throughout Downtown Kirkland’s Central Business District, using many of the city’s main streets. Visitors will be able to vote for their favorites in a variety of classes, including favorite chopped car, sports car, lowrider, import, convertible, hot rod, off-road vehicle, Mopar, Chevy, and Ford. Awards also go to the most desirable vehicle, oldest car, favorite survivor (a classic that has no modifications whatever), favorite custom, unique ride, engine, paint job, and favorite muscle car. Kenworth is sponsoring the favorite truck category, and there are two overall prizes: the People’s Choice motorcycle and car, and the Best in Show motorcycle and car.

The Waterfront Auto Show is scheduled for August 7. The event opens at 10:00 am, with prizes awarded at 2:30 pm. The show closes at 4:00 pm.
