Peak performance achieved by local climber

It was recently reported that a Bellevue woman has become the youngest person to reach the top of each Washington peak listed on the Bulger list of 100 highest peaks in the state.

Linsey Warren, at 27 years old, became not only one of the few women to complete the list but also the youngest when she reached the top of Windy Peak. The feat was five years in the making and Warren says she is considering using her experiences to produce a book.

Warren told King5 that she climbed for many years without even knowing about the list, but once she became aware of it she began searching out the far-flung locations that are home to some of the peaks. Warren indicated that finding some of the towns was an adventure in itself, with some locations not appearing on a map.

A brochure printer could assist the out-of-the way communities in putting themselves “on the map” by advertising their proximity to a Bulger list peak, thereby increasing visitors there.

The list Warren completed, the Bulger Top 100, is named for a group of like-minded “peakbaggers”. The first climber to complete the list was Russ Kroeker in 1980. Since then, 49 people have completed the list, and a mere handful of them are women, which makes Warren’s accomplishment even more impressive.
