An innovative, permanent piece of art being installed in Downtown Park in Bellevue, and will be open to the public.
This is the final piece of the Northeast Gateway project located at Bellevue Way and Northeast Fourth Street. News of such projects can be disseminated throughout a city with flyer printing. In May 2021, a water feature and plaza were finished in the park.
The new piece is the work of THEVERYMANY. It combines architecture and art, and focuses on public art. It will have fluted columns that will create a canopy with perforations so that light can filter through the structure. The piece is made of over 6,600 unique panels, with over 60,000 folds made by hand and 180,000 rivets. The goal of the piece is to reflect a love of natural Forms, the innovative technology sector of the city, and the city’s creative and robust community of makers and thinkers.
THEVERYMANY is an architecture and art studio based in Brooklyn, founded and led by Marc Fornes, who is a practicing architect.
The city of Bellevue funded the artwork and Bellevue Arts Commission selected it. Once completed, it will become part of the public art collection of the city, which includes over 120 portable and permanent pieces of art documenting the complexities and dynamic moments of cultural life of Bellevue.
