Local art fair solicits submissions

Near the town of Bellevue in Sammamish, it is time for local artists to submit their work for a chance to participate in the 10th annual Sammamish Arts Fair.

The event features artists who provide their original works, which in past years has included creative items like jewelry, paintings, ceramics, photography, and woodcarving. Applications are reviewed by a jury, who will select which artists can participate in the October event. Artists participating in the event should have plenty of Brochures and Flyers on hand to advertise their creations

The event has gained local and national attention, even being mentioned by Forbes magazine when it named Sammamish the number one friendliest town in America. Last year’s event featured about 30 artists, many of whom had not participated in the event before. The mission of the fair is to create a cultural experience for all to enjoy. The event provides a platform for new and experienced artists to blend with the community.

The event is free to the public and all proceeds go directly to the artists themselves. Many artists will be more than happy to discuss how they create their works and some may even be working on creations as guests walk through the event.

The deadline for adults to submit their applications is May 15, while students have until June 1 to submit their applications. The fair will be held October 8 and 9 at the Sammamish City Hall.
