The city will be launching its “Keep Bellevue Beautiful” campaign this month as part of its efforts to work with the community to keep it free of litter.
There will be two events on Saturday mornings in August that will be a fun way for residents to get involved and show their civic pride. There will be giveaways, lots of food, and opportunities for participants to connect with their neighbors and other volunteers in the community.
The cleanups will be on Saturday, August 12 in the downtown area starting at City Hall and on Saturday, August 19 at Factoria Marketplace. Poster printing can be used throughout a city so that residents will become aware of such events and how they can participate.
The city is also planning cleanups of signature streets every month in the fall. The streets to be selected are ones that offer first and last impressions of the city.
Next spring, an Adopt-a-Street program will be started by the city that will involve the community in cleaning streets that are selected by groups and residents. Community partners, such as businesses, schools, faith groups, community organizations, and others that promote civic pride will be an important part of this program. Attendees can get to know their neighbors, learn about environmental stewardship, and to take part in helping to keep the neighborhoods of Bellevue beautiful so that they can be enjoyed by everyone.
