What's Happening in Auburn, WA…

Work on Auburn High School project finally begins

Following a groundbreaking ceremony at Auburn High School, Washington, work has finally commenced on the project to reconstruct and modernize the old school building.

During the ceremony, in which school officials held their golden spades, the principle of Auburn High School Richard Zimmerman remarked that the current freezing temperatures were typical of the inside of the school building. Guests at the official ceremony laughed and shared the anticipation of a new school building in 2014, with a heated structure that will not leak water.

The new Auburn High School will open September 2014 with improved security, heating, and a non-leaking structure. Over 100 guests attended the ceremony, most looking forward to the new structure, with very little nostalgia for the old building which was originally built in 1950. Work on the new school commenced 24 hours after the ceremony.

Teachers, administrators and students will have to face challenges as the work gets underway, although Kip Herren, the Auburn School District Superintendent, did not seem concerned by the disruption. The superintendent is looking forward to having four modern, well-facilitated schools in Auburn. The new school will provide access to modern science laboratories, a common area for after school activities, the latest technology for students in classrooms and, as there will be only two points of entry, improved safety.

The school may also have to reprint brochures outlining the available facilities of the school using local brochure printers for their skills and expertise in the production of a school prospectus.
