Run scheduled in Auburn

A fun run is on the agenda in Auburn.

The Almost 5K Poker Fun Run & Walk will be held in downtown Auburn, at the Les Gove Park. This event will take place in person, and all are welcome to participate regardless of age or ability. A virtual run option is available.

The reason for the “Almost” in the title is the way the event is set up. Runners will follow the large loop at the park, and five loops is just 1,138 feet short of 5K. Each time a runner completes a loop, they will stop and pick a card, with the idea of getting the best hand possible in a game of poker with the cards they draw. Banner printing can be used to create course markers for events like this.

Groups of 25 will set off at intervals of 15 minutes, from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm. Participants can select their start time when they register. Runners are asked not to arrive on the course until 15 minutes or less prior to their start time, and to remain six feet from others not in their household at the finish and start areas, and at the packet pick-up area.

The run is set for August 14, from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm, and registration is $15. Runners must always wear masks on the course, and there will be hand sanitizer on all tables. The top poker hands in each age category will win an award.
