Cheap Trick is from Rockford, Illinois, where they first got together in 1973. The founding members were Robin Zander handling lead vocals, Tom Petersson on bass, guitarist Rick Nielsen, and Bun E. Carlos on drums. Zander, Petersson, and Nielsen are still in the lineup, along with Daxx Nielsen. Robin Taylor Zander, the founding member’s son, is a touring member.
Cheap Trick’s career really got started with “In Color,” their second album, which was a huge success in Japan. Their global breakthrough came in 1979 with “Cheap Trick at Budokan.” Their hit “I Want You to Want Me” finally broke into the Top 10, and in 1988, their single “The Flame” topped the charts.
The band has built a dedicated following, and, in 2016, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. A review notes:
“Overall the band did what they usually do and that is put on an exceptional show. Solid musicianship . . . led by one of the greatest voices in the history of rock.”
Cheap Trick will be at the Muckleshoot Events Center on January 12 at 8:00 pm. When this type of event is scheduled, organizers can use brochure printing to create programs for audiences.
