R&B artists coming to Auburn

A hip-hop, soul, and R&B artist is on the way to Auburn, along with some friends.

Elgin Baylor Lumpkin, more commonly known as Ginuwine, is a native of Washington, D.C., and began his musical career in the group Swing Mob in Rochester, New York. It was there that met renowned producers Timbaland and Static Major, as well as rapper Missy Elliott. After Swing Mob disbanded, the four kept working together on various projects, including “Ginuwine . . .The Bachelor,” his 1996 debut album. The single “Pony” from this project climbed to No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Later on, Ginuwine would go on to form an R&B group, TGT, with Tank (R&B singer/songwriter Durrell Artaze Babbs) and Tyrese (Tyrese Darnell Gibson, singer and actor). They released their Grammy-nominated debut album, “Three Kings,” in 2013. In 2014, he began focusing on his solo career. A review for Ginuwine’s live performance reads:
“Ginuwine did not disappoint!! . . . the show was awesome! I would see him again!!”

Also on the bill will be 112 (pronounced "one-twelve”), an Atlanta-based R&B group. A staple of the music label Bad Boy Records, 112 have been active in the R&B scene since 1993, appearing on major songs such “I’ll Be Missing You”. A review says:
“112 had the crowd on their feet . . . Loved the showmanship, top notch performance, very well put together.”

Ginuwine and 112 will be at the Muckleshoot Casino Events Center in Auburn on March 9. Organizers of concerts like this will frequently use poster printing to create suitable advertising.
