Popular girl group to play Auburn

One of the most influential female groups of all time will appear in Auburn next month.

TLC first got together in 1990 in Atlanta. The original group first comprised Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes and Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins. Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas later joined them, and with this line-up, the group made it onto the Billboard Hot 100 list, putting nine singles in the top 10. Of these, four went to No. 1.

Four of the group’s albums went to multi-platinum status, including 1994’s “CrazySexyCool,” which won the Recording Industry Association of America’s (RIAA) Diamond certification. The Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) gave its Million certification for “FanMail,” the first time in history the award went to an R&B group.

Other awards rolled in from such organizations as VH1, which called TLC the “greatest female group” and listed them as No. 12 on its list of “100 Greatest Women in Music.” Over their career, TLC won five Soul Train Music Awards, five MTV Video Music Awards, and four Grammy Awards. Lopes lost her life in an accident in 2002, and the two remaining members decided to continue as a duo.

A review of the current lineup says:

“TLC proved that they are still the same CrazySexyCool girl group that they were back in the ’90s and are not going anywhere.”

TLC will be at the Muckleshoot Event Center on May 17. When organizers schedule this type of event, they can use poster printing to create advertising.
