Popular country star to perform in Auburn

One of country music’s biggest names is coming to Auburn.

Hank Williams Jr., who was born Randall Hank Williams, is the son of the legendary Hank Williams. A native of Shreveport, Louisiana, he started his career by copying his father’s style, and singing cover versions of the senior Williams’ songs. He appeared on television in 1964 on “The Jimmy Dean Show,” once again singing his father’s music. He also guest starred on “Shindig” that same year. All the time, however, he was struggling to emerge from his father’s gigantic shadow and find his authentic voice.

The break came, literally, in 1975, when he fell while mountain climbing. After he recovered, he came back to the industry and challenged the traditional country music field with his blend of blues, rock, and country. He is a multi-instrumentalist, playing drums, fiddle, upright bass, bass guitar, and many others. Williams has released hundreds of works in various formats, including 56 studio albums, dropping the most recent, “Rich White Honkey Blues” in 2022. A review says:

“ . . . the show was fun, raw and just what you’d hope for from the country music outlaw.”

Hank Williams Jr. will be at the White River Amphitheatre in Auburn on July 8 at 7.00pm. Audiences at live performances often enjoy learning more about the artist; organizers can share this information in programs created using brochure printing.
