Morris Day and The Time will appear at the Muckleshoot Events Center in Auburn, giving today’s audiences a chance to hear a band that has been in business for more than 40 years. The group formed in 1981 in Minneapolis, creating a sound that mixed dance and soul music with rock, funk, and other genres.
Day, who is both a singer and songwriter, has consistently led the group, which is known for having been closely associated with Prince. Arugably the most successful of Prince’s associates, they have attained substantial popularity with songs such as “Jungle Love,” “Cool,” and “The Bird.”
As with most groups, the line-up has changed over time, but Morris and Jesse Johnson, who is the guitarist, recorded solo works even as they continued to perform with The Time. The group has released five studio albums, with the most recent, “Condensate,” dropped in 2011. It went to the No. 10 spot on the U.S. R&B Charts.
A review of the group says:
“The show is full of music, showmanship, and fun.”
Morris Day and The Time will be in Auburn on October 21 at 8:00 pm. When events such as this are planned, organizers can use poster printing to create colorful advertising to bring people to the concert.
