Classic rock to come to Auburn

A rock band that has a 50-year history is coming to Auburn.

Blue Öyster Cult was born in 1967 in Stony Brook on Long Island, New York. They have worldwide album sales of 25 million, and their style, a fusion of psychedelia with hard rock, plus their love for satirical, fantastic, and occult lyrics, gave them a strong influence on heavy metal bands.

Like most groups, BOC’s lineup has changed over the years. The longest-serving members are Eric Bloom (1969–1986, and 1987 to the present), and Donald Roeser (aka Buck Dharma), whose stints are 1967–1986 and 1987 to the present. In addition to Bloom and Roeser, the current lineup includes Richie Castellano, Danny Miranda, and Jules Radino.

The band has its biggest successes in the 1970s and 1980s, when they recoded hits like “Burnin’ for You,” “Godzilla,” and “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper.” The singles were hits, and the songs are often played on classic rock stations. They turned onto music videos early, and their videos were frequently played on MTV early in its history.

The band tours constantly, and will release its latest album, “50th Anniversary Live – First Night,” in December 2023. A concert review says:
“...the band was proving beyond a shadow of doubt that Blue Oyster Cult is still worth seeing.”

Blue Öyster Cult will be at the Muckleshoot Events Center in Auburn on December 5. Organizers of concerts like this can use poster printing to create outstanding advertisements.
