Classic rock comes to Auburn

Three iconic bands are coming to Auburn in July.

REO Speedwagon is touring with Styx and Loverboy, rocking audiences as they always have.

REO Speedwagon is a hard rock band that first got together in 1967 in Champaign, Illinois. In 1980, they dropped “Hi Infidelity,” which sold more than 10million copies and contained four singles that hit the US Top 40. During their career, the band has sold over 40 million records and put 13 hits in the Top 40. One review notes of a show:

“It was a great time all around the arena, full of sing-alongs and good times. I’m glad to have seen these rock legends . . .”

Styx formed in Chicago in 1972, breaking through in 1977 when they released “The Grand Illusion.” The album reached No. 6 in both Canada and the US and was the first of four straight albums that were certified multiplatinum. “Come Sail Away,” arguably their biggest hit, was on this album. A recent performance review says:

“Styx continues to deliver an exceptional show, obviously the reason they continue to be in demand.”

Canadian rock outfit Loverboy first got together in Calgary in 1979. Their biggest hits include the iconic “Working for the Weekend,” which still gets substantial play on classic radio. A review notes:

“Loverboy still delivers the hits . . .”

The classic trio of bands will be at the White River Amphitheatre on July 12. This kind of event can be promoted successfully when organizers use poster printing to create the advertising.
