Auburn to get alt-rock vibes

After taking some time off, a popular alt-rock band with nearly three decades of history is on tour again, bringing fans back to see them.

Matchbox Twenty first became known when they released alt-rock songs like “Push,” “Real World,” and “3am” in the 1990s. The band’s debut album, “Yourself or Someone Like You,” earned Platinum certification in New Zealand, Australia, and Canada following its release in 1996. This was followed by “Mad Season,” their sophomore album, in 2000, and had the satisfaction of seeing it certified as 4x Platinum in the U.S. The band got back together after a hiatus and recorded “North,” and went on to drop the album in 2012. The effort landed on the Billboard 200 at No. 1, thus becoming the band’s first album to hit the top of the chart.

The band has an extensive discography, and plans to release its fifth album, “Where the Light Goes,” later this year.

A review of the band performing live says:

“I had forgotten just how good their music really made me feel. It didn't take but the first song and I was singing along and really glad I bought tickets.”

Matchbox Twenty will be at the White River Amphitheatre in Auburn on May 18 at 7:30 pm. Organizers of this type of event can promote it by using poster printing to create advertising.
