Materials like Styrofoam are difficult for most people to dispose of, as many agencies will not accept them. Auburn has set up an event to help residents with their recycling.
The Expanded Polystyrene (Styrofoam) Collection Event will take place in the parking lot of the Safeway on Auburn Way South. Anyone bringing materials to the collection should look for the EPS or #6 symbol, depending on what type of Styrofoam them have. The symbol will be found inside the symbol for recycling.
As with all events where materials handling is involved, there are some rules that need to be followed. First, only dry, clean white materials will be accepted. In addition, the material must be free of labels and Tape, which contaminate the process. Packing peanuts must be boxed or bagged separately.
The facility will accept Styrofoam sheets, shipping coolers, polyethylene blocks, and takeout containers. They will also accept the Packaging typically found with furniture, monitors and computers, appliances, and new electronic products. Shipping coolers and picnic coolers are also acceptable.
They will not accept clear plastic wrap, bubble wrap, blue or pink insulation foam (XPS), gray Insta-Pak Foam, Insta-Pak Foam, and spray-in foam. Hard plastics, foam insulation, expanded polypropylene (EPP) and urethane foam cushions will also be refused.
The collection event is January 8, from 9.00 am until 1.00 pm. Poster printing can be used to create directional Signs for events like this.Get a Free Quote for Signs Get a Free Quote for Packaging Get a Free Quote for Tape
